I wish to voice my disapproval for the proposed low income housing development in Hutto under the Housing Tax Credit program, project 08192. As a Hutto citizen, I am concerned about the low income apartments currently being considered for approval in the Hutto Square subdivision for a number of reasons. My first concern is for the people who would live in the low income apartments. Individuals who qualify for low income living are looking for a new beginning and hope. Unfortunately, Hutto does not provide the governmental support infrastructure, public transportation, healthcare, or even enough businesses to provide local jobs. Hutto does not even have a single grocery store. By placing low income apartments in Hutto, you would be setting the individuals who will live there up for failure. My second concern is for the citizens of Hutto. Our schools are already over capacity, a problem that will be exacerbated by high density housing. There is also a widespread fear among Hutto residents that low cost housing would increase the crime rate and hurt property values around the complex.
